Ingredients

    One large onion, chopped
    Two medium carrots, chopped
    One large rib celery, chopped
    One Tablespoon olive oil
    One half head cabbage, chopped
    One large can diced tomatoes
    One cup pasta sauce or one tablespoon tomato paste
    One and a half teaspoons vegetable base
    Eight cups water
    Two teaspoons Italian seasoning
    one half teaspoon red pepper flakes
    two bay leaves

Directions

Saute onion, carrots, and celery in olive oil in large stock pot until translucent.
Add everything else.
Bring to a boil and simmer for around an hour.
