Ingredients

    1 lb. ground beef, browned & drained
    2 cans tomato past
    3 cups water
    2 tbsp olive oil
    1 medium white or yellow onion, chopped
    1 cup mushrooms, sliced
    6 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp white pepper
    1 tbsp oregano
    1 tbsp basil

Directions

In large sauce pan, heat olive oil. Add onion and garlic. Brown until onion is soft. Add tomato paste and water. Stir thouroughly. Add oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Bring to boil. Add browned ground beef, reduce heat to simmer and cover with splatter guard. Simmer at least 2 hours, or up to 4 hours (the longer, the better). Add mushrooms 30 minutes before removing from heat. Serves 10.
