Ingredients

    3 Large Apples
    2 Small Pears
    2 Tbsp. Packed Brown Sugar
    3/4 Cup Water
    1 tsp. Lemon Juice
    1 Tbsp. Cinnamon
    1 tsp. Ginger
    1 tsp. Nutmeg
    1 tsp. Cardamom
    1 tsp. Allspice
    1 tsp. Vanilla

Directions

Peel, core, and roughly chop apples and pears. Add fruit and remaining ingredients to a large saucepan and stir to combine. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring and mashing often until sauce is thick and fruit is soft; 30-45 minutes. This can also be pureed until smooth and used as apple butter for your favorite breakfast bread or pancakes.

Spices can be adjusted to individual tastes.

Yields 6 1/2 cup servings.
