Ingredients

    2 C Flour
    1 teaspoon Salt
    1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
    1 teaspoon Baking Soda
    1 Tablespoon Sugar
    1/3 C Butter
    2/3 C Lowfat Buttermilk

Directions

Preheat oven to 400

Sift together Flour, Salt, Baking Powder, Baking Soda and Sugar. Cut in the Butter with a pastry cutter until it turns to a coarse texture. Add the Buttermilk and form into a ball. If it's too wet, add flour, if it's too dry, add more buttermilk or water.

Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter or glass. Place on greased cookie sheet, (I use pam instead of grease to cut calories). Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes.

Makes 20 Biscuits, Each Biscuit one serving.

I only got 17 biscuits out of this, but my family gobbled them up. They liked them better than the drop biscuits I've made. If you don't have a pastry cutter tool, just use two knives and cut going in opposite directions. These are worth it! - 4/6/08

I used 3 tbsp vegan shortening and 2 tbsp butter and added 2 tbsp vinegar to the buttermilk (old southern trick) and everyone loved them! - 11/10/09
