Ingredients
-
500g good quality pork mince
1/2 a dessert apple, peeled, cored and chopped
1 small Red Onion, finely chopped
1 egg
2 gloves of garlic, minced
a small pinch of dried chilli flakes
a pinch of dried thyme
a twist of sea salt
a couple of good twists of freshly ground black pepper
Directions
Place the mince and all the other ingredients in a large bowl, and mix thoroughly.
Pre-heat a griddle pan on a low-medium heat. Do not add any cooking spray/oil/fat.
Divide the mixture into eight and form into burgers. (I roll them into balls then squash them!) Gently place them in the pan, and turn the heat to medium. Ignore them for 5 minutes, then carefully turn them over.
After another 5 minutes, check to see if they are cooked through poking them with a skewer or the pointed tip of a knife. If they are cooked, the juices will run clear. If they are still pinky, do them for another 2 minutes each side.
Alternatively, you can cook these on a barbecue, and they will taste amazing!
Serving Size: makes four x 2 burger servings
