Ingredients

    ham hock or boiling bacon (ham)
    red lentils
    carrot
    onion
    leek
    turnip

Directions

put on a pan of water to boil and add bacon, skim off any froth. when bacon is cooked chop into small pieces discarding any fat.
whilst bacon is cooking put lentils in a bowl and put under a running cold tap to clean turning occasioally until the water runs clear.
put bacon back into pan with the stock from the bacon.
chpo veg into small pieces and add to the pan, add the lentils
simmer until the lentils split then serve.
no stock cubes or seasoning needs to be added to this soup - trust me!
