Ingredients

    1 cup quinoa
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 teaspoon turmeric
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    2 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
    1/4 cup nutritional yeast
    1/2 teaspoon wheat-free tamari (soy sauce)

Tips

Stir in your favorite veggies; we like bell peppers, red onions, and tomatoes in the dish. (Calories not included.)

Nutritional yeast can be found in the bulk foods aisle of most healthy food stores and large supermarkets.


Directions

In a large saucepan, prepare quinoa according to package directions. Just before the quinoa has finished cooking, stir in the garlic, turmeric and pepper, and cover.
Remove from heat and immediately stir in the remaining ingredients, along with up to 1/2 cup warm water.
Serve immediately.

Serving Size: 1 1/4 cups per serving (Serves 4)

    Love that it's vegan. I used a mix of white and black quinoa. Doubled the garlic (I just love the stuff !!) Added very finely chopped broccoli, cauliflower and onion. Thought I'd died and gone to heaven LOL) !!! You HAVE to try this. - 12/15/13

    Id suggest that you mix the non quinoa ingreadient and water together boefre adding it to the quinoa - esp the tahini which is sometimes a little tricky to mix. This dish goes well with peas and carrots, or broccoli and mushrooms, and add a little hot sauce or red pepper flakes for some heat. - 6/25/14

    I rinsed and toasted the Quinoa first. I used a veggie soup base and some knorr veggie mix too. I added sauteed onions and garlic and steamed broccoli. I also used half cheddar and half parm cheese. It is yummy. - 4/3/13

    Fabulous -- simple, delicious, versatile! I added black beans, tomatoes, garlic and leeks. Enjoyed it with a side of arugula salad :) Yummy!! - 10/20/15
