Ingredients
-
2 cups of peanuts, plain
Tips
This peanut butter has no preservatives, so store in a mason jar or other container and keep in the fridge.
NOTE: This recipe is my own, but as there are so many fitness blogs out there that have the same instructions for making nut butters that I cannot claim that this recipe is *100%* original! However, I think my prep time/clean up time is the most correct for the food processor I use, which is a very old Cuisine Art.
Directions
Pour peanuts into food processor. Run food processor until peanuts release oil; scrape sides of processor and run again, this time until the mixture achieves the consistency of peanut butter! I put 10-30 mins. for prep time because it depends on the strength of your food processor and how fast you can clean up.
Optional: In my opinion, the peanut butter does not need any extra ingredients--oil, sugar, and such. However, I have heard of some success if you add in a small amount (1-3 tbsp) of coconut oil and/or palm sugar. Next time I make this, I am going to try to add in flavored extracts (apart from the regular vanilla) to see what that does to the flavor.
