Ingredients

    1 Tb + 1 1/2 tsp chili powder
    1/2 tsp garlic powder
    1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
    1/4 tsp dried oregano
    3/4 tsp paprika
    1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 1/2 tsp sea salt (you may want to reduce salt for your taste)
    1 1/2 tsp black pepper

Directions

1. Mix ingredients and store in an air tight container.

To make taco meat:
Brown and drain 1 lb ground meat of choice. Wipe skillet of excess grease. Return meat to skillet sprinkle spice mix (approx 2 1/2 Tb) over meat, add 1 1/2 c. water. Simmer 20-25 minutes to let flavors mingle and water cook out/ thicken into a sauce. (When I make taco meat, I usually add a chopped onion to the meat as it cooks and then some salsa while the seasoning simmers. It adds a some veggies AND enhances the flavor.)

Wonderful. Thanks for posting. To add even more veggies to your Tacos, try grating some carrots into the meat as it browns. The texture is like hamburger and because it cooks with the meat, it picks up some of the flavor too. Allows you to have a bigger portion too. :-) - 7/13/09

Better than package seasoning. Very spicy. I would reduce salt next time. I also added a little flour so it thickened more quickly! - 8/30/11
