Introduction

My mom invented these after she stopped eating beef and pork, and I have to say, they're better and heatlhier than their beef dopplegangers. Enjoy! My mom invented these after she stopped eating beef and pork, and I have to say, they're better and heatlhier than their beef dopplegangers. Enjoy!
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1 pound ground turkey
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
    ½ cup finely chopped onion
2 Tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (if desired)
1 chipotle chili in adobo sauce, finely chopped
    ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    1 teaspoon onion powder
    1 teaspoon seasoned salt
    ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Finely chop the onion and sauté in a tablespoon or so of olive oil. Set aside and allow to cool.

Finely chop the chipotle chili. Place in a medium size bowl and add the cooled onion, cilantro, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Combine the ground turkey and vegetable mixture from step #2. Mix well, being sure not to overmix.

Score the turkey mixture into even portions with your hand. Take each portion and form into a patty.

Grill or fry burgers until well done (15 minutes or so, flipping once, depending on the strength of the grill or oven).

Place on toasted hamburger buns and top with cheese slices (pepper jack is great on these), and toppings of your choice (bacon, mustard, ketchup, mayo, tomato, onion, lettuce, etc.)
