Ingredients

    3/4 cup butter
    1 cup sugar
    1/4 cup dark molasses
    1 egg
    2 cups flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    2 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp ground ginger
    1 tsp ground cloves
    2 tsp baking soda
    sugar

Directions

1. Cream together shortening, sugar, molasses, and egg
2. Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon, grnd ginger, grnd cloves, and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture.
3. Shape into small balls and roll in bowl of sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet.
4. Bake at 350 degree for 10-12 minnnutes. Cool on sheet for 1 minute. then remove to cooling racks.
