Ingredients

    6 serving sweet yellow onion, raw (1 medium onion) (by COUNTRYCITYMIX)
    8 fl oz White Wine
    2 cup Beef broth, bouillon, consomme
    2 cup Swanson Chicken Fat Free Chicken Broth Less Sodium
    2 tsp Lea & Perrins, Worcestershire Sauce
    2 clove Garlic
    8 slice, small (2" x 2-1/2" x 1-3/4") Bread, french or vienna (includes sourdough)
    5 tbsp Extra Light Olive Oil
    4 oz Parmesan Cheese, hard

Tips

The secret is to let the onions caramelize. You want them to be nice and brown before adding the liquids.


Directions

Slice onions in half then slice thinly. Brown the onions in olive oil over low heat for 1 hour. Add one cup of white wine. simmer another five minutes. Add beef broth and chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic. Simmer soup for another hour or add to crock pot on low until ready to eat. Ladle into ovenproof bowls. Cover soup with toasted piece of french bread and grated cheese. Place under broiler until cheese melts.
