Introduction

Delicious and spicy. Instead of tortillas, I put it on romaine leaves to eat. Delicious and spicy. Instead of tortillas, I put it on romaine leaves to eat.

Ingredients

    3.0 tbsp Chili powder
    3.0 tbsp Coriander leaf, dried
    1.0 tsp Cumin seed
    3.0 tsp Garlic powder
    1.5 tsp Oregano, ground
    1.5 tsp Paprika
    1.0 tsp Pepper, black
1.0 tsp Pepper, red or cayenne
    1.0 tsp Salt
    1.0 large Onions, raw
    1.5 pepper Hot Chili Peppers
900.0 Grams Ground beef, extra lean (15% fat) pan broiled
2.0 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Directions

1. Add all dried spices in small bowl & add 1 cup warm water and stir. 2. Dice onion. 3. Add oil to large pot or deep pan and add diced onions. Soften onions until translucent approximately 10 minutes. 4. Add ground beef and cook until browned. 5. Pour spice mixture over beef and stir. Add more water if necessary to make it soupy. 6. Gently simmer over low heat for 3 to 4 hours until desired consistency is reached to make a moist beef but not runny. My favourite way to eat this is loading romaine lettuce leaves with approx. 1/4 cup of the beef mixture, topped with a bit of cheddar cheese, salsa & tzatziki sauce. Yum! So delicious, you won't miss the flour tortillas, I promise. You can also add it to a salad with some salsa & a bit of cheese for a wonderful taco salad. Enjoy! Serving Size: 1/4 cup (50 grams)
