Ingredients

1 cup water
1 serving Irish style steelcut oats 1/4 c dry
0.12 cup Cranberries, dried, sweetened (craisins)
0.06 tsp Salt
5 grams Sunflower Seeds, without salt
1 tsp packed brown sugar
.25 cup Buttermilk, lowfat added just before serving
Tips
We usually make four cups at a time. Multiply each ingredient by four. Leftover oatmeal tastes great the next day!
Directions
Bring one cup water to a boil. Sprinkle oats, cranberries, salt, sunflower seeds, and brown sugar in the water. Boil for one minute, then simmer uncovered for about 25 minutes, or until the oats reach the texture you prefer. Stir occasionally. Serve each cup with buttermilk poured over the top. Fat-free yogurt is a good substitute for the buttermilk and about the same calories. Maple syrup or honey an be added for additional sweetness and more calories.
