Ingredients
-
1 large brown egg
1 tbsp. skim non fat milk
cinnamon and nutmeg, to suit your taste
2 slices whole grain bread
1 tbsp. light cream cheese (you could use non fat and that would lower fat content)
6 medium size ripe strawberries, sliced
.5 tsp 'healthy' margarine
1 tbsp. light syrup
powdered sugar, optional
Directions
First, whisk together the egg, milk, cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl. Set aside. Spread the cream cheese on both slices of your bread. Place a layer of sliced strawberries on one slice of bread (save the rest for garnish) and put second slice on top. Preheat a non stick frying pan on medium heat. Put your sandwich in egg mixture, turning to ensure good coverage on both sides. Let it soak for a while. Lower heat. Place in preheated fry pan, cover to ensure it cooks all the way trough. Flip after a few minutes. Once it's golden brown on both sides, it's done. Dust with some powdered sugar. Serve with a little margarine, syrup and remaining strawberry slices. Enjoy!!
