Ingredients

1 egg
1 cup milk (skim)
1/2 cup water
4 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup butter (unsalted)
2 tbsp sugar (raw)
1 1/2 tsp salt (sea, preferred)
2 1/4 tsp yeast (breadmachine if using)
Sesame seeds (opt)
Directions
Lightly beat egg with water.
Add ingredients in order bread maker advises. Set machine to "dough" cycle.
When cycle is done, remove from machine and shape into evenly sized balls. Place balls on a greased cookie sheet and press gently to flatten a little bit. Cover with a warm damp cloth and let rise for 1/2 hour.
Preheat oven to 400F.
When dough is done rising, remove damp cloth and sprinkle with sesame seeds (if using).
Bake buns in oven for 10 - 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
Makes 12 - 16 buns (depending on how big you want them)
