Introduction

These are very fudgy, but the texture , while very good is not quite the perfect texture of the original recipe. If you want the original, along with about 100 more calories per serving, just double the butter, reduce water to 1/2 cup, increase sugar to 2 cups, use flour insteat of oat bran and double the nuts and chips. Ingredients

    55g (3/4 cup) sifted baking cocoa
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/3 cup butter
    2/3 cup boiling water
    330g (1-2/3 cup) sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. salt
    80g (2/3 cup) whole wheat flour
    73g (2/3 cup) oat bran, ground in coffee ginder if desired
    1/2 cup whole walnuts, lightly toasted and finely chopped
    1 cup Hershey's special dark chocolate chips(can use semisweet, dark is better)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350. Put some water on to boil. Spray a 9'x13' baking pan with nonstick spray. In a medium bowl, combine sifted cocoa and soda. Stir in melted butter. Add boiling water and whisk until smooth. stir in eggs, sugar vanilla and salt. Do not beat, just stir until smooth. Sift in flour and oat bran and stir. Last of all stir in nuts and chips. Scrape into prepared pan. Smooth top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until barely done. Makes 24 brownies.
