Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    Lentils, 1.25 cup (remove)
    Olive Oil, 2 tbsp (remove)
    Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped (remove)
    Garlic, 3 cloves (remove)
    Ginger Root, 3 tsp (remove)
    Turmeric, ground, 1 tsp (remove)
    Garam Masala, 1 tsp (remove)
    water, 2 cup

Directions

rince and drain lentils. heat oil in a medium pan, fry onion for about 3 min. until soft. Add garlic, ginger and spices; cook, stirring for another min.
add lentils and water. bring to boil, lower heat and simmer for 15 min. stir occassionally. be sure not to burn the lentils on the bottom. serve with naan or pita break.

    Good
    Kind of bland, so I added salt, which throws off the sodium count. I also added 1 t. cumin seed with the garlic, 1/4 t. cumin & 1/4 t. cayenne pepper with the salt. To add some interest, I also added chopped spinach and shredded carrots. - 11/19/09
