Introduction

My husbands Grandma made this soup, it's my favorite. My husbands Grandma made this soup, it's my favorite.
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    3 litres water
    4 cups dry green or red lentils
    3 leeks sliced thin (white bulb and a bit of the green)
    1 cup diced celery
    4 cups red potato diced small (about the size of dice)
    5 smoked sausages sliced
    6-8 slices of bacon, sliced small
    Maggi or soya sauce to taste (about 1/4 cup)
    Salt to taste

Directions

Fill a large pot about 2/3 full with water. Add dry lentils and bring to a boil. Add leeks, celery and potatoes, slice bacon into small peices and fry. Add bacon with a bit of the fat to the soup. Add smoked sausage. Let simmer and add maggi or soya sauce to taste. Add salt to taste. Let simmer 30-40 minutes.
