My mother in law's chai recipe. Very basic, this recipe doesn't use elaichi (cardamom) or dalchini (cinnamon) or other spices, and it is delicious.
Fat free & sugar free, this icy drink is a perfect snack. Especially great treat for diabetic diet.
This is simply a nutritional powerhouse, perfect for a post-workout meal: 18 grams of protein, 4.5 grams of monounsaturated fats, 4.5 grams of fiber, and over 25% of 15 different vitamins and minerals including A, C, B6, B12, Magnesium, and Iron! And while the combination looks a little weird, you actually end up with a mildly sweet, pb&j flavored smoothie with a thick, custardy texture -- super yummy!

Traditional oatmeal, it tastes delicious fresh maid but if you freeze it, it tastes better! You can easily take the calories down using splenda.

Whisk to combine the sweetener, cocoa, cinnamon, salt and cayenne pepper, and store in airtight containers.
Our favorite hot chocolate is made with (canned) coconut milk which creates an extra creamy & rich hot chocolate.
To serve, warm favorite milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of the cocoa mix for every one cup of milk.

This smoothie contains lean protein which can be bought from any nutritional store or really any grocer. This is used as meal replacement or for clients on puree/liquid diets.
A small Orange Julius from the real namesake contains 350 calories and about 20 grams of sugar -- oy! This version is just 210 calories with only 7 grams of sugar, plus 15 grams of protein and more than ten vitamins and minerals. Drink up!
South Philly Sling #2
1 ½ oz Blue Coat Gin (distilled here in Philly)
Muddle with 1 giant basil leaf (for Italian influence)
½ ounce Cointreau to add sweetness and a touch of orange flavor)
1 bar spoon of Campari (for more South Philly influence and bitterness)
1 dash of fresh lemon juice (to tarten things up!)
All shaken with ice, then poured over fresh ice, then topped off with some soda water.
Garnish with lemon twist or fresh basil, and enjoy!
Chocolate lovers, this will knock your socks off, even my picky eater husband...loved it!
A great recipe I just made up! Uses two ripe bananas, 1/2 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries, 6 oz. nonfat yogurt, and skim milk. Put in a blender and Voila!
