Ingredients
-
1 lb sausage (I use Jone's Breakfast Links)
1 cup diced bacon
1 medium onion chopped
1 cup celery, chopped
1/2 LB of mushrooms sliced (I use jarred Green Giant mushrooms)
2 Apples cored and diced (skin on)
1/2 cup parsely chopped
1 tsp each of sage and thyme
1 loaf (1LB) firm whte bread (like Arnold), cut into 1 inch cubes.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Directions
Preheat Oven to 350degrees
In a large skillet fry sausage and bacon until crisp and brown (leave a small amount of bacon grease).
Remove sausages and bacon, let cool and then cut into 1 inch pieces.
Replace in skillet and add onion, celery, mushrooms, apples, parsely and herbs. Sautee , stirring occassionally, for 5 minutes.
Put bread cubes in a large bowl, add fry pan mixture and chicken broth. Toss gently.
Spoon stuffing into a well greased (I use PAM) 2 quart casserole dish and place in oven for an hour at 350 degrees- covered.
