Ingredients
-
4 quarter pound, think cut, steak slices
1 packet dry French onion soup/dip mix
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 medium onion, sliced into rings
*optional* crock pot liner
Directions
* Place crock pot liner in crock
* Place 2 steaks in crock pot side-by-side (fold them in half, if necessary, to make it fit)
* Open soup mix packet, and sprinkle half of mix on top of steaks
* Place remaining steaks in crock pot, on top of other steaks
* Sprinkle remaining soup mix on these steaks
* Set crock pot to low
*You can add onions and mushrooms at any point in the cooking process. The longer they cook, the softer the texture, so cook them to your desired texture preference, but they should cook at least 2 hours to help flavors mingle to a delicious medley.
*Allow steaks to cook 6-8 hours on low. They can cook longer if you're working or away from home for the day. The longer they cook, the more tender the meat will become.
*When removing steaks, use tongs or two serving elements (for/spoon) to lift them out. Because they get more tender with time, the steaks may fall apart during removal.
Serving Size: makes 4 quarter pound steaks

I made this tonight for dinner because I knew I would be pressed for time. Not only is it super easy to throw in the crock pot but it comes out delicious and tender. I used some really thin steak slices-the cheapest ones I could find!! I also added more mushrooms and about a cup of water. Perfect!! - 9/6/11
