Ingredients

    900g Beef Rump Steak or Stewing Steak
    2 Tablespoons Sunflower or Vegetable Oil
    1 Large Onion
    2 Cloves of Garlic
    25g Plain White Flour
    1 Pint Beef Stock
    0.5 Teaspoons Marjoram
    0.5 Teaspoons Caraway Seeds
    2 Teaspoons of Paprika
    1 Teaspoon Brown Sugar
    Pinch of Salt and Pepper or to taste

Directions

Pre-heat oven to 180C or 160C if fan oven. Cube the beef. Peel and chop onions and garlic. Heat the oil in a large saucepan or flame-proof casserole dish. Add the beef and fry until brown on all sides. Add onions and garlic to pan and then fry until transparent. Sprinkle on the flour and stir into mixture. Add marjoram, caraway seed, sugar, paprika, seasoning and stock then stir to remove any sediment from bottom of pan. Cover tightly and cook in middle of oven for 1.5 to 2 hours
