Introduction

This was my favorite snack in high school and to this day. My grandkids love it too. This was my favorite snack in high school and to this day. My grandkids love it too.

Ingredients

1 can of Mushrooms, plain, (caps or stems with pieces is fine. No buttered or flavored mushrooms).

Season to taste, (garlic is my favorite)
    Salt 1 tsp
Garlic 1 clove, peeled and chopped
Basil 1/3 tsp chopped fresh or dried, (use less if dried)

    Heat oven to 250 degrees.

Drain mushroom well. Spread on paper towel. While getting cookie sheet ready.

Spread mushrooms on cookie sheet, no need to spray or grease the cookie sheet. Season to taste.

You can use just about any spices you like. I put down the three I use most often.
(NO IT DOES NOT WORK WITH CHOCOLATE)! I tried.

Directions

Place cookie sheet in slow oven for about 10 minutes. Watch carefully. Ovens may vary in temperatures.

Remove from oven when slightly crispy. (If you like less crispy remove when less crispy, if you like more crispiness leave in a minute more). Careful not to burn, (like popcorn it does not taste good that way).

Place in a bowl, plug in a movie or put on your favorite show and have a nice crunchy snack.

One serving per each can of mushrooms.

Maybe I did something wrong, but I left them in the oven for an hour and they were still chewy. Too bad, I was looking forward to them. - 5/21/08

My mom used to make these years ago and I forgot about them. I just started making them again and love them. The only problem is that the can of mushrooms doesn't make enough! - 4/26/09

The mushrooms need to be very well drained. I even squeezed mine a bit with the paper towels. They turned out great - 5/11/21
