Ingredients
-
* This would be a good sauce to experiment with spices like cinnamon, nutmeg or allspice, or some orange zest for use in deserts.
- Bag of fresh or frozen cranberries (approx. 2 cups)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
Tips
Cranberries will stain certain surfaces, i.e. wooden spoons, so be careful to use stain proof utensils.
Directions
1. Put all ingredients in a small sauce pan and give them a stir.
2. Cook over low-med heat for 15-20 mins.
It should do a light simmer/slow boil. Keep an eye on it, stirring regularly to prevent burning. Cook it until it is the consistency you desire...it will get thicker the longer you cook it. If the water evaporates before you achieve your desired thickness, just add a bit more water and keep it going.
3. Ta Da! Your cranberry sauce is finished. Will keep in the fridge for about a week.
Serving Size: Makes approx 2 cups worth of sauce; I used 1/2 cup servings
