Ingredients

2 cans black beans or 3c dry black beans, cooked
1 whole egg
1 tsp cumin
.5c fresh chopped cilantro
.5c panko bread crumbs
1 tbsp of lime juice
If using dry beans, add salt to taste
Tips
Making from dry beans gave me more control over my salt intake but extended my prep time by 2.5 hours, which means this recipe took 5 hours 20 mins, start to finish.
Directions
Drain and rinse well 2 cans or 3 cups of black beans. Smash them with a fork until you can see some of the black from the bean. Add 1 egg, 1 tsp cumin, about a half palm of roughly chopped cilantro, 1/2 c Panko bread crumbs, and 1 tbsp or half a fresh squeezed lime. Mix it all up and mold into patties. Refrigerate a couple hours. Broil at 350'F or grill on foil for 20 minutes.
