Ingredients
-
1 head, large (about 7" dia) Cabbage, fresh
800 grams Ground beef, lean
1 cup Beef broth, bouillon, consomme
1 tbsp Butter, salted
.5 cup Dark Corn Syrup
1 tsp Allspice
1 cup kernels Yellow Sweet Corn, Frozen
2 package (10 oz) Peas and carrots, frozen
Tips
Syrup may be adjusted and salt added to taste.
Directions
1. Chop cabbage to about 1 inch cubes. Place in a large pot and add beef broth. Add enough water to immerse the leaves. Cook until tender (approx. 30 to 45 minutes).
2. While cabbage is cooking, brown ground beef. Drain, rinse, and set aside. Prepare two 13 x 9 inch casseroles by lightly coating inside with butter, oil, or nonstick spray.
3. When cabbage is done, drain in colander reserving 1 cup of the broth. Return the cabbage to the large pot and add the ground beef, allspice, and frozen vegetables. Mix thoroughly.
4. Evenly distribute the cabbage mixture between the two casseroles. Drizzle top with syrup then stir gently to combine. More syrup may be added if needed, just remember to add the calories to your calculations.
5. Bake in 390 F (200 C) degree oven for 20 minutes. Serve hot.
