Introduction

This cheese is from Bryanna Clark Grogan and made me love pizza again! Don't make the sauce until you're ready to use it because it sets up very quickly. But, make a double batch and refrigerate some - use it as a spread to make awesome quesadillas or grilled cheese sandwiches. This cheese is from Bryanna Clark Grogan and made me love pizza again! Ingredients

    1 cup water
    1/4 cup nutritional yeast
    2 tbl cornstarch
    1 tbl flour
    1 tsp lemon juice
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp garlic granules
    1 tbl canola oil
    2 tbl water
    **optional** 4 tsp. calcium carbonate

Directions

Place all ingredients except the oil in the blender and blend until smooth. Pour the mixture into a small saucepan and stir over medium heat until it starts to thicken, then let it bubble for 30 seconds, whisking vigorously. Whisk in the oil and 2 tablespoons of water.

Drizzle immediately over pizza or other food and broil or bake until a skin forms on the top. Alternatively, refrigerate in a small, covered plastic container for up to a week. It will become quite firm when chilled but will remain spreadable. You can heat it to spread more thinly.

The optional calcium carbonate powder gives 2 tablespoons of the cheeze about the same amount of calcium as 1 ounce of dairy cheese.

The oil is optional but helps the cheeze melt better. It can be left out.

Serving size is 1/4 cup.

    Very Good
I was searching for a nut free vegan cheez and this fit the bill. Low in calories too and so tasty! I substituted arrow root starch for the corn starch and coconut flour for the all purpose flour and it turned fine. I served it warm as a cracker/vegetable dip. Love it! - 6/17/15
