Introduction

This is a wonderful recipe from my girls' great grandma Audry. It is so filling and is perfect on a cold evening.
Substitutions: turkey sausage or smoked turkey sausage is wonderful as well as green beans in place of the cabbage.

Ingredients

    15 Sausage Patties (fried)
    1 Tbs. Sausage Drippings
    1 Medium Head of Cabbage (chopped)
    4.5 Cups Reduced Sodium Chicken Broth
    1 Tbsp. Pepper
    Water
    10 Medium Potatoes (chopped)

Directions

In a large stock pot combine sausage, drippings, cabbage, broth and pepper. Add water as neccessary to cover cabbage. Cook for 40 minutes on medium high heat. Stiring occasionally and adding water as needed. Add potatoes and more water. Cook for 20 minutes longer stirring occasionally. Keep liquid 3/4 of the way up the sausage and veggies.

This recipe makes at least 20 servings and can be frozen in steam bags.
