Introduction
I like making everything from scratch. I like making everything from scratch.Number of Servings: 40
Ingredients
-
* Split Peas, 10 cup
* Whole Ham
* Onions, raw, 2 cup, chopped
* Garlic, 3 cloves
* Salt, 4 dash
* Steak Pepper, 3 serving
* Water = 35 Cups
* With the Ham, it is better to save the Left Over Ham dinner for the SP . Take like 85 % of the Ham for dinner & 15 % is the Bone with Ham that can & will cook off into the Soup.
* Also 1 serving = 1/2 Cup
Directions
Get the Biggest Crock Pot you have, Take the Peas & put them in the Pot. Use 1 1/2 Cups of Water = 1 Cup of Peas.
* The reason I add the extra 1/2 cup is evaporation.
Let sit all night so the peas swell. It will be easier to cook in the morning.
The next day, Pour the water out & wash the peas. Then put Peas back in the pot & add the other ingredients & Pour @ least 15 cups of water back in the pot as well.
Leave on Low to Medium Low for like 4 to 5 hours. Checking in on it every 30 minutes & stirring it..
When the peas have fully cooked( When they are mushy) then pour into a bowl & serve
You can add Corn Starch to thicken but, you might not need it. It is a option though.
