Introduction
Don't buy taco seasoning anymore! You can easily make your own taco seasoning at home, with just a few on hand ingredients. Don't buy taco seasoning anymore! You can easily make your own taco seasoning at home, with just a few on hand ingredients.Number of Servings: 5
Ingredients
-
2 Tblsp. Ground Cumin
1 Tblsp. Chili Powder
1 Tblsp. Dried Minced Onion
1 Tblsp. Mexican Oregano, crushed
2 tsp. sugar (I like raw sugar)
1 tsp. sea salt
Directions
First of all you can find Mexican oregano in the ethnic food isle of your grocery store, where all the dried Mexican spices are.
Start by browning the beef in a skillet, or non-stick electric skillet. If using a regular skillet, you may need to add a tiny amount of olive oil or veggie oil to help prevent the beef from sticking. Sometimes I use a little bit of water to loosen up the stuck-on meat.
While the meat is browning, in a small bowl stir together the spices. When the meat starts to brown, add the spices and stir together until well mixed, add about 1 tablespoon of water, cover and simmer about 10 min.
Serve as taco meat over salad or in tacos. We like to use this mixture and add pinto beans or no fat refried beans, and serve with salad and corn chips as a taco salad.
Makes a good amount for a family of 4 with a little left over.
