Ingredients

2 loaves whole wheat/brown bread
1 medium onion chopped
2 stalks celery chopped
3/4 package fresh mushrooms, chopped
1/2 bell pepper chopped
3-4 cloves garlic
Sage
Poultry seasoning
thyme
black pepper
apple
sodium free chicken broth
1 whole egg
Any seasoning you like to add
Directions
I use FRESH bread
Chop onion, mushroom, garlic, celery, fry up in either olive oil or butter until translucent.
Meanwhile, tear bread apart into chunks in VERY LARGE bowl.
Add chopped apple, sage, thyme, poultry seasoning, Rosemary IF DESIRED, add chicken broth, egg and onion mixture.
Dig your hands right in and mix well. Add more broth to make it sticky and moist.
Stuff turkey cavity with desired amount and place the rest in a baking dish.
Cook with turkey for about 2-3 hours until stuffing in dish is done.
Serving size-USE COMMON SENSE on your serving size, 1 cup.

The stuffing was very good without any butter. I liked the apple as well. However since there were no measurements for the spices I put too much black pepper in and it was a bit tangy. - 7/31/11

Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately when I add spices, I add a pinch, a sprinkle and a shake.
