Introduction

This is my mom's favorite christmas recipe. This is my mom's favorite christmas recipe.
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 1/2 cups butter crisco
    1 lb. (2 1/2 cups) brown sugar
    1/2 cups granulated sugar
    5 eggs
    3 cups flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    1 cup milk
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    1 tsp butter flavoring
    1 tsp maple flavoring
    1 cup chopped nuts (opt.)

Directions

Cream together the shortening and both sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well in between each. Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Add the dry ingredients a little at a time, alternating with small additions of milk. Beat well after each addition.
Add flavorings and mix well. Add the nuts if you want them.

Grease and flour pans. Fill about 1/2 way to leave room for expansion. Bake at 350 for 30-40 min. Toothpick should come out clean. Leave in pans to cool until pan is cool enough to touch. You can then turn them out onto racks to cool completely. Don't cut into them until totally cooled.

Makes 1 large angel food pan or 6-8 mini loaves depending on size of loaf pans.
