Introduction

Great homestyle stew for the whole family and sure to be a hit every time you make it! I serve it over egg noodles but you may omit them if you like, as the dish can stand alone with no problems. Ingredients

1lb sliced smoked sausage of polska kiebalsa
    1lb beef stew meat
1 cup chopped green onions(aka scallions)
    1 small onion chopped
    1 cup chopped celery(4-5 stalks)
3 cups or 44oz of canned diced tomatoes
    1/2 cup of flour
    2 cups of chicken broth
3 tsp of dry crushed garlic
12 oz package of egg noodles

Directions

Add all vegetables, including tomatoes, garlic and sliced smoked sausage to large crock pot , mix and set aside.

Using a Ziplock bag(easiest) put all but 2 tablespoons of flour and a little salt and pepper to taste in bag with stew meat and shake, remove stew meat shaking off any excess flour, discard ziploc bag and excess flour, and stir meat into crockpot.

Last step add chicken broth and mix ( I make my own using bullion cubes and water.)

Set crock pot on high for 4-6 hours or low for 6-8 hours.

15 min before serving, mix remaining 2 tablespoons of flour with 4 tablespoons of water and stir mixture into crockpot to thicken.

Cook Egg noodles according to package.

Serve stew over egg noodles

Makes 10 large soup or dinner bowls(approximatley 1 cup cooked noodles and 1 1/2 cup stew)

You may omit egg noodles for even fewer calories.

This sounds good & filling for my husband and 4 sons. Do you drain the sausage after cooking it? - 9/7/10
