Thank you Chef Meg, delicious recipe. I made the same sauce, pasta recipe. But with the shrimp I added chopped shallots and scallions, garlic pepper sautéed in Smart Balance oil. Shrimp - very flavorful.
Excellent recipe. I substituted tomato paste, used twice the recommended pasta, tripled the red pepper. Absolutely delighted my guests -- we cleaned the pot!
I noticed the recipe calls for 4 oz of pasta, while Meg says 8 oz of pasta, the nutritional data is for 1 oz of pasta for a serving.
Umami is not called "mouth feel" but a 5th flavor which is usually a woodsy or fishy flavor. Hard to define but think dried shitake mushrooms.

LIVENOW783: My husband is diabetic so I look at carbs. Ragu is one of the higher carb sauces and actually I find it kind of watery. Prego has good carb counts for a cheaper brand but we like Newman's Own for taste.
I know some people were asking about changing the canned tomatoes with prepared sauce like ragu. One warning, prepared sauces often contain loads of sugars, so be sure to read to labels on any store bought foods to make an accurate comparison.
Chef Meg is using spaghetti, not Linguine. This is a good recipe, I have used this tomato sauce as a vehicle for Chicken Breast, Lean Pork Chops as well. I skip the butter and use a couple splashes of red wine and let it reduce. This is a nice enough of a recipe for company as well. Thank you!

Not big on canned tomatoes, but willing to give it a try. Might just use Chunky Prego. My husband can't eat shrimp so I like that chicken can substitute. Really fast! Looks scrumptious! Can't wait until I get home!

Need lots more spice. She seems a bit disorganized and the casual pours are not accurate-that was WAY more than 1 Tbsp of oil. Could add thawed chopped spinach, zucchini and lots more Italian seasonings. I made it her way and was way too bland.
I make this recipe with spaghetti squash. Less fiber but reduced carbs. Totally yummy!

I just made in like 15 mins and it tastes great! My 12 year old is very picky but he loved it. I have a big boy and a hungry husband so I made it with the shrimp and some tofu and it made enough for lunch tomorrow lol.
Like the video...and the recipe looks good...the video makes it look very simple, fast, easy for weeknight cooking, without a lot of extra ingredients...a plus for me.
Sounds delicious but since whole wheat pasta tastes bland to me than I would add chicken along with the shrimp to give it more flavor!

Just a couple picky points. It's "palate", not "pallette". And "mouth-feel" is not the same as "umami", which is one of the five basic flavors our tongue tastes (sweet, salty, bitter, sour, umami -- umami is the stuff in mushrooms and MSG).

Would be good with chicken. It's sad this Coastal Florida girl doesn't like seafood. :)
I would have liked a gluten-free and a low-carb option, a note about local, sustainable seafood and not to overcook it - those shrimp need only a minute in the pan. The info that butter raises cholesterol may be Big Food and USDA's take on it, but some of us know better.
They make it look so easy.

Made this recipe tonight and loved it! Added less red pepper and more garlic though. Also, chopped up some fresh basil to add to the sauce. I didn't use any butter and only 2 tablespoons of olive oil instead of 3 to cut back on calories. I will definitely make this again! Very good!!

Looks delicious. Hubby has shellfish allergy so I will try with halibut or chicken.
I am adding onions in place of the garlic and chicken instead of the shrimp. Just preferences.
I'm trying to watch the video but it keeps stopping every few words. Is it just my PC, or is that what's happening to others as well? How can I fix it so I can watch? It sounds like a dish that I would like.

hubby doesnt like shrimp . I do and so when i make this i use both . chicken for him and shrimp for me . ..good and quick. use cooked chicken for him . so it is a quick both ways .
