Thank you Chef Meg, delicious recipe. I made the same sauce, pasta recipe. But with the shrimp I added chopped shallots and scallions, garlic pepper sautéed in Smart Balance oil. Shrimp - very flavorful.
Excellent recipe. I substituted tomato paste, used twice the recommended pasta, tripled the red pepper. Absolutely delighted my guests -- we cleaned the pot!
I noticed the recipe calls for 4 oz of pasta, while Meg says 8 oz of pasta, the nutritional data is for 1 oz of pasta for a serving.
Umami is not called "mouth feel" but a 5th flavor which is usually a woodsy or fishy flavor. Hard to define but think dried shitake mushrooms.
this looks good and easy , 2 requirements for a recipe, thanks
LIVENOW783: My husband is diabetic so I look at carbs. Ragu is one of the higher carb sauces and actually I find it kind of watery. Prego has good carb counts for a cheaper brand but we like Newman's Own for taste.
I know some people were asking about changing the canned tomatoes with prepared sauce like ragu. One warning, prepared sauces often contain loads of sugars, so be sure to read to labels on any store bought foods to make an accurate comparison.
Chef Meg is using spaghetti, not Linguine. This is a good recipe, I have used this tomato sauce as a vehicle for Chicken Breast, Lean Pork Chops as well. I skip the butter and use a couple splashes of red wine and let it reduce. This is a nice enough of a recipe for company as well. Thank you!
Will be trying this one, looks great!
Not big on canned tomatoes, but willing to give it a try. Might just use Chunky Prego. My husband can't eat shrimp so I like that chicken can substitute. Really fast! Looks scrumptious! Can't wait until I get home!
I will definitely try this one!!!
I'll give this recipe a try!
Need lots more spice. She seems a bit disorganized and the casual pours are not accurate-that was WAY more than 1 Tbsp of oil. Could add thawed chopped spinach, zucchini and lots more Italian seasonings. I made it her way and was way too bland.
I make this recipe with spaghetti squash. Less fiber but reduced carbs. Totally yummy!
This looks so good and so easy to make. Thanks for sharing.
You should give the member credit in your videos/recipes. :)
have to check out the pasta container...
Can I use a jar sauce like Ragu?
Looks yummy will have to try!
Can't wait to try this one. Thanks for the hint of using whole wheat pasta vs regular pasta.
This looks like a good easy recipe, got to love it
I just made in like 15 mins and it tastes great! My 12 year old is very picky but he loved it. I have a big boy and a hungry husband so I made it with the shrimp and some tofu and it made enough for lunch tomorrow lol.
Like the video...and the recipe looks good...the video makes it look very simple, fast, easy for weeknight cooking, without a lot of extra ingredients...a plus for me.
Sounds delicious but since whole wheat pasta tastes bland to me than I would add chicken along with the shrimp to give it more flavor!
Wonder how this would be with gnocchi pasta instead of linguine?
Sounds great I would probably use chicken instead of shrimp though.
Looks yummy will have to try!
Recipe sounds great. In fact, I'll be trying it out tonight. But to save a ton of calories and carbs, I will use Miracle Noodles instead. http://www.miraclenoodle.com/
This sounds so delicious! And looks so quick and easy! Although I LOVE shrimp, I have chicken at home and think I'll have to do that tonight, thanks for the great idea!!
I am going to try this on my family tonight
Just a couple picky points. It's "palate", not "pallette". And "mouth-feel" is not the same as "umami", which is one of the five basic flavors our tongue tastes (sweet, salty, bitter, sour, umami -- umami is the stuff in mushrooms and MSG).
please link recipe on video page in the future. Thanks
Would be good with chicken. It's sad this Coastal Florida girl doesn't like seafood. :)
I would have liked a gluten-free and a low-carb option, a note about local, sustainable seafood and not to overcook it - those shrimp need only a minute in the pan. The info that butter raises cholesterol may be Big Food and USDA's take on it, but some of us know better.
They make it look so easy.
Liked the presentation,,,,,,
soon I hope
Video unavailable...but I will print and try this receipe tonight! Correction! The video worked. And I will definitely try this version of the receipe.
Hopefully they'll fix it soon!

this definitely looks good but i will try it with chicken and provide my feedback.
Yay!! This one may have been mine originally. I can't wait to try it!
Super tasty dish! My husband doesn't like shrimp..but he sure like this and ate the left overs too! Will make again and again! :)
Love spicy shrimp!
i love shrimp
Made this recipe tonight and loved it! Added less red pepper and more garlic though. Also, chopped up some fresh basil to add to the sauce. I didn't use any butter and only 2 tablespoons of olive oil instead of 3 to cut back on calories. I will definitely make this again! Very good!!
looks delish plan to make it soon.
Looks delicious and easy! Can't wait to try.
Looks good. Plan to try it tonight.
Love shrimp looks greatj
Thanks for this recipe. My son Erik, who is living at home again after his traumatic brain injury, loves shrimp and I need some quick and easy dishes to fix for after work. I will be trying this soon.
I learned alot watching this!
This looks great AND healthy!
This is a practical recipe which can be made year round.
looks delicious! I will be trying this recipe.
This looks a lot like my go-to recipe at Applebee's--the Spicy Shrimp Diavolo. YUMMY!!!!!
i am going to make it with toffu ,iam vegetarian but it looks real good
Looks delicious. Hubby has shellfish allergy so I will try with halibut or chicken.
I am adding onions in place of the garlic and chicken instead of the shrimp. Just preferences.
I'm trying to watch the video but it keeps stopping every few words. Is it just my PC, or is that what's happening to others as well? How can I fix it so I can watch? It sounds like a dish that I would like.
For a quick dish this video is taking forever. Here is another vote for no video, just recipe.
Will give it a try with chicken!
Just want the recipe....don't need to watch the video
Can't watch and write at same time. Where's the recipe written?
videos are difficult with dial-up. I wish you would also print the recipe for those who like to look at it. Sounds great.
looks delicious and simple to make
Easy and quick and looks like you could vary it with the fresh veggies you have on hand. i would second the comment that it would be helpful to have the recipe ingrediants and amounts listed right below the video screen. Thanks, Chef Meg, for another wonderful recipe!
YUmmy, plan to make this weekend!
hubby doesnt like shrimp . I do and so when i make this i use both . chicken for him and shrimp for me . ..good and quick. use cooked chicken for him . so it is a quick both ways .
Looks like a great recipe that I would make - just need written instructions - looks really good
Sure is a recipe I will be trying in the couple of week. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Would be nice if you had the ingredents listed for the article, or where to find them.
To Texasmom68, I couldn't have said it better. I like the idea of the videos even though I prefer to see the written instructions, ingredients and nutritional info.
To WWIEGEL - I am not one of the "inattentive" people you are referring to, but thought someone should remind you that sparkpeople is about lifting people up and supporting them, NOT belittling them, or making them feel stupid. Merry Christmas, best of luck to you!
Looks good and easy.
This recipe is quick to make when having quest and when making something quick for the family. I love the substituting the chicken instead of shrimp.
one of my favorite go too meal....
i love it
Well, at risk of sounding blunt, for all you inattentive persons who missed the heading of the video window and the Chef even directing you to the recipe location on sparkrecipes.com, here is the link to your written recipe: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=652380
Any place where we can get printed recipes instead of video? I'd would love to have them handy when I'm ready to cook.
I have a slow internet connection and would much prefer the written recipe instead of the video or at least a link to a recipe I can print. Thanks!
great video - good directions make a recipe easy to follow
