Cape Cod natives certainly know their chowder. This recipe, hailing from a Cape Cod family, is one of the best, most delicious we've discovered. Simple and satisfying, it's a wonderful antidote for a cold, autumn evening. Though far from a New England tradition, we like to serve our chowder with buttered cornbread and steamed green vegetables for a welcoming, nutritionally balanced meal.
This was an improvisation that turned out to be delicious. I used Japanese sweet potatoes, orange yams, and carrots. I diced up a small onion and several celery stalks and simmered the veggies in the broth and spices for over an hour on low. The amounts are approximate - add more or less depending on your taste. This recipe can be altered as you like. I found the stew was slightly sweet from the yams, carrots, and sweet potatoes, and with the spiciness of the cayenne, giner, cinnamon, and curry, this was very satisfying. Would be a great addition for a fall harvest meal. Hope you enjoy!

This version of my famous guacamole is without the olive oil. For ease of calorie calculation the ingredient 'Hass Avocado' shows up as 10 oz. of avocado; however, each medium avocado should be about 5 oz. Therefore, you may simply use 2 medium ripe Hass avocados. Enjoy!
