I have only had asparagus once at a restaurant and it was awful! I wanted to try it but I wanted an easy recipe in case we didn't like it. It was really good. I like soft texture. I don't want to eat splintery sticks like the restaurant served. Will make this again!! - 5/23/16

I'd rate this higher if it was fresh or frozen asparagus. I have some frozen, which I think I'll try. But I have bad memories of canned asparagus from childhood. - 6/14/11

Fresh steamed asparagus with a touch of margarine is better - I never add cheese to my veggies. - 6/14/11

I will try this with fresh asparagus. Good to have another way to prepare it. We eat it "steamed" in the microwave frequently at this time of year when it is plentiful. - 6/14/11

one of my favorite veggies -- steamed --- cook fresh -- it only takes 8 minutes or so and SOOOO much better than canned. Sprinkle with a little lemon juice --- hmmmmmm

Why would anyone use canned asparagus when it's in season now. Canned is so full of salt...Fresh is not. Use FRESH whenever you can. Precook the fresh and follow as directed. (I microwave mine in a coverd dish with a quarter cup of water for 4 minutes..till tender crisp) Very Good... - 6/14/11

My husband and I really liked this! It felt a little extravagant with the cheese, but in reality it was low calorie and yummy. I will make it with fresh asparagus in future, as my husband and I don't like the texture of canned. I will definitely make it again. - 1/30/08
