I'm giving it a 3 star because even though it is quite bland, it is so darn healthy. I think the recipe is a nice clean palette to dress up with our individual tastes. Next time I am going to try adding some coconut and also use almond milk instead of water. Maybe add a little dried fruit, too. - 10/24/12

I used my coffe grinder for the heavier grains so it wasn't as chunky(young children and textures) I do like it but find it a little bland. I love the idea of it and wondered about adding flax, cream of wheat, and cornmeal to give it more body or something...who says it can't be an 8 grain? - 3/14/08

I lived on a farm as a child. I would visit a friend who lived in the far back woods. They had to cook with wood. Early on a cold morning we would get up to a breakfast of cooked wheat the mother had cooked overnight in a canning pressure cooker. This recipe brings back memories of those times. - 3/11/08

Pretty good. I had to add some Splenda to it and my crock pot made it a little too mushy for my taste. Next time I'll probably make it during the day so that I can cook for a shorter time and then rewarm in the microwave. Also, I think I'll try steel cut oats next time instead of rolled oats. - 12/5/07
