Introduction

Ingredients

    1 lb. split green peas
    8 cups water
    1 small onion
    garlic cloves
    1 large carrot

    salt
    pepper
    fresh windowsill herbs.

Tips

I pureed mine to make it a smooth, creamy soup that needed no milk.


Directions

sautee garlic and onions in soup pot in 1 tablespoon oil. Add 8 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add thoroughly washed split peas, 1 teaspoon each of turmeric, cayenne pepper, thyme, and 2 bay leaves. Cook for 1 hour or until tender. Add salt and pepper to taste.

    The amount of Cayenne is about double what it should be. This is super spicy. There is also no pork bone in it. - 5/29/18
