Introduction

I came up with this because I didn't want to make my house really hot from the oven and I didn't have any lasagne noodles. I came up with this because I didn't want to make my house really hot from the oven and I didn't have any lasagne noodles.

Ingredients

    1 lb ground beef, lean
    1 cup chopped onions
    3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb cooked pasta (I like shells or penne)
    1 jar pasta sauce
    1 container lowfat cottage cheese
1 cup low fat mozzarella chesse, shredded
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp Italian seasoning
    salt & pepper

Directions

Brown ground beef in skillet, add onions and garlic, season with salt, pepper and 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning. Cook until onions are tender. Add pasta sauce to beef mixture.
While that is cooking - boil pasta 2 minutes less than directions.
In a medium bowl mix cottage cheese, mozzarella, egg, salt, pepper and remaining Italian seasoning.
Pour half of beef sauce into botton of crock pot. Then half of pasta, then half cheese. Layer again.
Top with some extra shredded cheese, cover and let cook 4-6 hours.

I'd like to try this recipe, but am wondering if you cook it on "low" or on "high" for those 4-6 hours. - 11/20/09
