Introduction

This is a fantastic salad that I found in a book I read. It's named after the Canlis restaurant and was/is a favorite served there. It's become a family staple at my house and my kids beg me to make it. Must be the bacon.

Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 large egg, coddled
    1/3 cup lemon juice
    I clove garlic, minced
    1 tsp oregano
    2 tsp dried mint
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1/2-2/3 cup olive oil, light in color
    2 tomatoes, cut into eighths
    1 1/2 heads romaine lettuce, cut into strips
    1/2 cup green onions
    1 1/2 cup croutons (optional, not added)
    1 cup romano cheese
    1/2 cup bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled

Directions

Whisk coddled egg, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, mint, salt and pepper together. Add olive oil and whisk until combined.
Put everything else in bowl, toss. Add dressing and toss very well. Serve.

    /ate there when I was 10, then again right after we moved to Tacoma in 1962. Fabulous restaurant, fabulous salad. I still have the original card with the recipe I got then and have been making this for years. My husband's favorite. - 1/26/17
