Ingredients

    1kg chickpeas
    4 tbs olive oil
    1 onion, diced
    3 garlic cloves, finely cut
    1 tsp chilipowder
    (1 tbs ginger)
    2 200g cans of crushed tomatoes
    2 tbs honey
    (1 tbs ginger)
    Salt and black pepper

Directions

Rinse, and soak chickpeas overnight (at least 8 hours).
Rinse chickpeas again, and boil them in a new water for 1 hour (requires water twice the amount of chickpeas) with a little salt.

Dice the onion and cut the garlic.
Heat oil in a large pot and sauté the onion and garlic. Add chili and ginger (if desired). Mix thoroughly.
Add crushed tomatoes and let simmer at a low temperature for about 15 minutes.
Add chickpeas, honey and salt & black pepper to taste.
