My husband makes this soup, generally with leftovers after we have baked salmon. It is an adaption from a midwest living recipe. Great with homemade bread and salad.
Submitted by JENO0615NOT your traditional fish stew - but a quick and easy version that is loaded with protein, is low-cal, and almost no fat! Add as many different types of seafood as you wish - this is just a guideline (a yummy one)

This rich, decadent gumbo is sure to please the creole appetite, and anyone else who tries!
--Many people add 1/2lb of diced ham, but I don't like ham, so I leave it out.
Get great protein with a little kick! Absolutly delious stew!!
Submitted by ZANANVText stolen from NY Times: This spicy fish stew served over couscous is easy to make — don’t let the long list of ingredients deter you — and great for a dinner party. You can use a sturdy white-fleshed fish like monkfish or grouper, or a flakier fish like snapper or tilapia.

This is the adapted version of Central Market recipe
Made nearly 5 quarts, so about 12 - 13 servings(1.5 cups each)
i cut this recipe in half, and sprinkled some parmesean cheese on top.
you may need to add some extra water as it cooks, mine kept getting too thick.
it's good on top of pasta too!
This reminds me of a Maryland Crab Soup, but much easier
