2 cartons firm tofu, cut into cubes
    5-7 teaspoons roasted peanut oil
    2/3 cup hoisin sauce
    2 tblsp soy sauce
1 cup + 2 tbls of your favorite red wine
    3 garlic cloves
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
    1 medium green bell pepper
    1 medium yellow bell pepper
    1 medium red bell pepper
    1 cup vegetable stock
1 tblsp black or white sesame seeds

1. Pour yourself a glass of red wine and sip while you prepare this sinfully delicious dish.
2. With the tofu already drained and cut into cubes, saute in 4 tsps peanut oil.
3. While the tofu is sauteeing, cut up all your veggies, as big or as small as you like, and put aside.
4. Combine the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, 2 tblsps of your red wine, garlic, pepper and the last tsp of peanut oil in a bowl and set aside..
5. Add the veggies to your tofu and keep cooking until the veggies are no longer raw-crisp, the tofu is goldeny brown and the mushrooms have cooked through.
6. Pour in your marinade. Put on medium heat until it starts to bubble, then turn the heat to low and cook for 2 minutes.
7. Serve over steaming brown rice and enjoy!

This recipe was great. I'm not a big tofu fan but the seasonings masked the taste of it for me! - 11/3/09

maybe wine was being consumed while writing this recipe? Mushrooms are not listed as ingredient but they get added and I would have unused vegetable stock and sesame seeds... hmmm. I can guess when to add them. LOL - 11/30/07

  • Funny. Pour an 8 oz glass of red wine for yourself first. Though I often injoy a 4 oz glass while cooking, I would not add it to the recipe! It does sound good though! - 12/30/14

  • Great way to flavor the tofu, highly recommend. Use any veggies you like. Onions, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, and peppers for me. You can get in 4 veggie servings for the day just with this dish, if you play your recipe cards right. - 1/31/14

  • More than eight ounces of wine go into the recipe but the nutritional info is based on 0.2 oz per serving? - 9/18/13

  • So I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds delish! I was attracted to it b/c of the name, and any recipe that starts with a glass of wine makes me - 3/27/07
