Matzo Brei [MAHT-suh bri] is one of the great traditional breakfast or brunch treats. Look on the menu of any Jewish delicatessen and you’ll see this popular dish. Normally made by soaking matzo until soft, frying with eggs and serving with applesauce, cinnamon-sugar or jam on the side, we’re shaking things up a bit! Our savory skinny recipe sautés fresh spinach, garlic and onions first, then scrambling with matzo and eggs. It turns ordinary Matzo Brei into a really fabulous, healthy meal.
If you don't want to buy the small loafs of 12 grains breads, you can do it with the cheaper and larger loaves of Great Value whole wheat bread. This is a lot better then the order in pizza for you and you still fill the need. Using Great Value 100% whole wheat bread in fact is better. Calories, Trans Fat, Sodium, Carbs are all lower then using the more expensive bread i used in my other recipe for pizza
A healthy way to start your day! Whole wheat, apple oatmeal muffins. Or a great portable snack to throw in your gym bag!
This makes the house smell so great when you bake it! Great alternative to store-bought cereal! You actually know what ingredients are in it! It'll keep for weeks in an airtight container! If you want to add more cocoa to actually taste the chocolate, go for it otherwise it's a great added antioxidant! You can also fold in seeds after it's cooked as well.
These are some tasty pancakes that come out thick without using buttermilk.
This delicious meditteranean cold salad is very light and refreshing. It has interesting flavor and the smell in your kitchen as you make it is just heavenly!
Adapted from the recipe on the King Arthur Flour's food blog for whole wheat cranberry sour cream coffee cake - this is so, so good that I've made it twice. I don't like sour cream and the thicker texture of the plain chobani (over regular plain yogurt) makes this a good substitute. I have made other modifications by adding apples to my cranberry sauce since I like it that way oh so much!
I decided to enter this recipe without bread since we don't always buy the exact same bread.
Sometimes I will make this the night before and put it in the fridge and then pop it in the oven before I start getting ready for work. By the time I am ready to go it is cooked. If you do this do not preheat the oven as the dish is cold and plan on adding a little extra time for cooking since all the ingredients will be so cool. If I am taking it to work I put paper towels under the lid or aluminum foil to catch any moisture from landing back on top of the casserole.
My mother-in-law made this and I had not ever tried it, but fell in love with it. It is simple and quick.
The potatoes makes a great crust and the quiche has lots of stuffing in it.
Here is a dish you can prep ahead of time and cook it in the oven for brunch or dinner.
