I found this recipe in prevention magazine as a healthier version of "mall" chocolate chip cookies. I substituted unsweetended apple sauce for half of the oil and cut the sugars by more than half, subbing in honey which is mroe natural and has less of a spiking effect on blood sugar. It is also sweeter than sugar, so I was able to get away with less. Now these are an every-day treat.
Cakey oatmeal cookie with no added oil and no animal products. Pretty tasty if you add some pumpkin pie spice!
This is a vegan version of coconut custard pie that is absolutely heavenly! Don't be afraid because this one is AWESOME! Superb coconut flavor, creamy texture - everything I've wanted since I can no longer eat dairy products.
I modified some ingredients from regular recipes to reduce the fat and sugar and give this some actual nutritional value.
I used organic whole wheat flour, organic smart balance vegan butter, stevia extract, organic Soymilk, organic unsweetened applesauce, organic chocolate chips, and organic oatmeal.
This lowfat banana treat goes great with a little spread of peanut butter, but it's an excellent treat with only good ingredients.
Made form teh recipe ont eh inside lid of Stonyfield Farms Organic lowfat plain yogurt.
Sweet and definitely not low calorie, but a little goes a long way because of the intensity of flavor. ALso brings some nutrition with it because of the whole wheat flour and the oats; use grass fed butter to improve the fatty acid profile. Substitute molasses for the sugar in the filling if you like the taste- adds more nutrients.
This recipe is a hybrid between the honey cake I grew up with, and one that I found here on Spark, which replaces butter with fruits. It is sweet without going overboard and really hits the spot!
This is my mother's recipe with one substitution - egg beaters instead of eggs. It is rich, delicious and tastes like home. There are other recipes in the Spark database with less sugar, fewer calories, but this is the real deal.
