Ganache Recipes

Please note that this recipe makes 16 servings--this is a very rich cake, so a small slice is totally satisfying (I've even cut it into 24 servings before with no complaints). It's a rich, satisfying dessert despite it's simplicity (or maybe because it's so simple!). Of course, the ganache filling can be skipped, if you prefer another. I generally frost the cake with a simple cream cheese frosting (recipe not included). Depending on how thick you make the filling layer, you may have extra ganache, which can either be drizzled over the cake OR you can let it chill till almost hard, roll it into balls, roll in cocoa powder, and viola! you have truffles.

Boasting a layer of chewy fudge brownies topped by smooth ganache icing, these rich, decadent brownies will satisfy the taste buds for less than 200 calories each.

I think the title says it all! This was what my mom and I came up with for this year's birthday bash... it's vanilla to the max, but the cake itself is not super sweet - we left that for the decadent filling, frosting and ganache!

I changed the recipe a bit, used 3/4 c. whole wheat pastry flour instead of all-purpose flour. I didn't make the ganache in the recipe, instead, I used some nutella.
