Ingredients
-
1/2 pound dried lentils
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup flax meal
1 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp curry powder
1 tbsp dried basil
1 tsp cayenne pepper (more or less to taste)
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp salt
Directions
Cook lentils according to directions. Drain and set aside.
In a food processor, process the oats until it is like a coarse powder. Add the remaining ingredients (including lentils) and process until everything comes together. If it is too dry, SLOWLY add water. If it is too wet, add a bit more flax meal. The consistency should be that of ground beef or cookie dough.
Form mixture into 6 evenly-sized patties. Heat a skillet and lightly grease with a vegetable based oil. Cook patties for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and warmed all the way through.
Makes 6 servings, one patty each.
