One day I decided to substitute a can of black beans for garbanzo beans while making hummus. t might actually be better than garbanzo bean hummus. I added the basil because I had some growing in my garden.
These are nice appetizers in the shape of a halfmoon. They're crispy outside with a creamy chicken filling.
It takes a while to make the whole batch but they last a long time as they are frozen and you only bake as many as are needed.
Tucked into tortillas, with corn and black beans, or atop a bed of lettuce, this is a delicious staple at our house. Easy crowd pleaser!
From the blog entry the recipe is taken from, which is adapted from a recipe by Brenda Melancon of Gonzales, Louisiana. The blog recipe is adapted by me.
The intro as written on the blog page:
This recipe started with me in the waiting room of my daughters’ dentist reading Family Circle. My eyes happened upon a recipe for Chocolate Hazelnut Pie submitted by Brenda Melancon of Gonzales, Louisiana. Nutella? Oreo Crust? Yes please. I took a photo of the recipe with my phone and went on with my life. Fast forward to now and World Nutella Day.
Just in case you don’t know what Nutella is, it is a sweetened chocolate hazelnut spread. Think ultracreamy peanut butter with hazelnuts instead of peanuts and with chocolate and sugar melted in. There are other chocolate hazelnut spreads, but Nutella is the biggest and the best.
I was first introduced to to this sinful concoction by my husband. As a teenager living in Germany, he used to spread Nutella on fresh crusty rolls called Brotchen. That was breakfast. My favorite way to eat Nutella is out of the jar with a spoon (I can’t keep it in the house), but this dessert may come in a close second.
I used the original recipe in Family Circle as a jumping off point for my own Nutella Cream Pie. I felt it necessary to double the Nutella because I find that Nutella flavor is diluted when mixed with other ingredients and baked. Second, I added more chocolate so that it would be sufficiently chocolatey. Lastly, I added a little salt and vanilla to amp up the flavors a bit.
The resulting pie was rich, chocolatey, smooth and crunchy. It’s pretty fantastic actually. All hail Nutella!

The night before you intend to make this you need to boil your chicken on med to high for 2 1/2 hours. Let chicken cool and then place in fridge. The next morning you need to take chicken off of the bones. Use your hands this will help you take out all the little bones. Then take the shredded chicken and place in a crock pot or stove to pan. Add Cream of chicken soup(1 large can), and chicken stuffing(1 box). Let cook until chicken hot. Serve with hamburger buns or on pita bread.
This no-cook treat is a quick way to satisfy a craving for chocolate and cheesecake.
A favorite Hawaiian way to eat Spam is in the form of a musubi (pronounced moo-soo-bee, with no accent). It is a fried slice of spam on rice pressed together to form a small block, then wrapped with a strip of seaweed.
My serving size is .25 cups however, 2 tablespoons is the normal serving size.
This makes a lovely, creamy mayo without any nasty chemical additives or preservatives. If you can use pasteurised egg, so much the better - and it costs next to nothing!
Delicious and tender. Slice super thin for best texture. Serve with steamed veggies and baked or mashed potaties or brown or white rice pilaf. Au jus is excellent over whichever starches.you choose.
This is a nice alternative to the traditional split pea with ham soup.
Quick, easy to make, and not too expensive if you can get smoked salmon trimmings. Lo fat thick Greek yoghurt or lo fat Creme fraiche can be used instead of lo fat cream cheese. Delicious spread on crispbreads or crackers
2 weeks ago at a dinner party I made the following, compiled from about 4 or 5 different seafood recipes. Due to popular demand I’ve written down more or less what I did (I took notes for once!) and am sharing the recipe here. This is very tasty, rich feeling yet light, and actually pretty darned easy to make. The only annoying part is the white sauce, because white sauce is always annoying. It really means it when recipes say stir constantly (or rather, you darned well better be stirring in the last 30 seconds!) and it just takes forever to thicken.

These wholesome cookies are another version of the ever popular oatmeal cookie. They're a little high in calories, but still a nice treat every once in a while.
Never thought an Italian would eat or make turkey meatballs but these are fantastic and my family has requested these all the time.
