Adapted from Hillbilly Recipes: I substituted Splenda for the sugar in the recipe. Reduces calories from 89 calories per serving to 19 calories per serving.
By replacing the low fat mayonaise with Walden Farms Calorie Free Mayo, 50 calories per serving are saved.
I like to make this salad for a nutrition lunch during summer months when I'm looking for something easy and cool to make.
This has been a family favorite since I was a kid and both of my daughters enjoy it with their families too. I usually make this with 1 cup of oil and 1 cup of lemon juice. In order to lower the fat and calories I have reduced the oil and increased the lemon juice in this recipe. You can adjust to your taste. I cut back on prep time by chopping my veggies with my Kitchen Aid food processor.
You can add some turkey or Italian sausage to this but it is calculated without it. Yummy the day of and even better left over. I sub'd out broccoli for the sprouts and it worked, too!
A lighter salt alternative to standard French dressing
I made this salad this morning for taking to work and liked it. It's probably possible to leave out the Omega oil but I added it to gain the benefits.
